Graz plant (Graz and Werndorf locations)
The Graz plant produces sterile pharmaceuticals and specializes in complex process requirements and innovative technologies. The product portfolio includes intravenously administered drugs such as anesthetics and analgesics, as well as large-volume products for parenteral nutrition and diagnostic products. For several years now, another focus has been on the production of biosimilars. The Werndorf site is also part of the Graz plant. The Logistics and Packaging Center with around 300 employees is located there.
With great flexibility for special process requirements and tailor-made solutions, the plant has developed into a leading manufacturer of highly active drugs and pharmaceutical specialties. Many years of expertise are combined with innovations in order to create a unique combination of manufacturing skills. This focus will be continuously expanded and strengthened in the coming years, with extensive investments in new technologies in the Graz plant and in the Packaging and Logistics Center in Werndorf.
Research & Development
The Resarch & Development Center Graz (R&D Graz) is responsible for the pharmaceutical product development of parenterally administered generics in the indication areas of anti-infectives, anesthetics & analgesics and critical care. This development task includes a number of activities.
It includes feasibility studies with regard to the evaluation of ideas, formulation development and the corresponding analytical methods, production of investigational drugs in the pilot plant, the coordination of global pharmaceutical development activities in the Fresenius Kabi production plants or at third parties, as well as support with the market launch and post marketing, including life cycle management.

In accordance with our guideline „Committed to Life“ we supply institutions in and out of the clinic with products that help improve the quality of life of chronically and critically ill patients. With our comprehensive range of products in the areas of clinical nutrition, infusion therapy including medical devices and biosimilars, Fresenius Kabi Austria is the reliable partner for Austria's patients, doctors, pharmacists and clinics.
In order to ensure a continuous high-quality therapy, our home care service also accompanies patients from the hospital into home care and thus also ensures adequate care in their own home.
Linz location
Linz plant
The plant in Linz specializes in raw material production. Through continuous research and development, we have become the world market leader with our current main products lactulose and hydroxyethyl starch (HES). The production processes for these two products were developed and patented at the Linz location.

The Linz Market Unit sells and markets the strategically important pharmaceutical raw materials lactulose, manufactured in Linz and Vicchio (Italy), and hydroxyethyl starch (HES), also manufactured in Linz.
Highest quality standards
At all production sites and locations of the Fresenius Kabi factories, systems, products, processes and methods are continuously monitored and checked by our quality assurance department in order to ensure compatibility with the relevant requirements. Specifications and methods correspond to the latest state of the EU GMP and US cGMP regulations, compliance with which is regularly carried out in audits by authorities, for example the U.S. FDA, as well as being verified by customers.
The integrated management system implemented for quality, risk, health, the environment and safety is the key factor in achieving the ultimate goal of Fresenius Kabi: first-class and reliable quality for our customers and patients all over the world.
Our plants meet local and international (including US) GMP regulations and supply national and international markets through the Fresenius Kabi group structures. We are also very reliable contract manufacturers for external customers.
